Destino: The Salvador Dalí - Disney Collaboration 57 Years in the Making

In 2003, Dis­ney launched a six minute ani­mat­ed brief referred to as Des­ti­no, ultimate­ly convey­ing clo­positive to a mission that started 57 years ear­li­er. The sto­ry of Des­ti­no is going as far back as 1946 when two very dif­fer­ent cul­tur­al icons, Walt Dis­ney and Sal­vador Dalí, decid­ed to paintings togeth­er on a automobile­toon. The movie used to be sto­ry­board­ed via Dalí and John Hench (a Dis­ney stu­dio artist) over the process 8 months. However then, moderately abrupt­ly, the mission were given tabled when The Walt Dis­ney Com­pa­big apple bumped into finan­cial prob­lems.

Now rapid for­ward 53 years, to 1999. Whilst paintings­ing on Fan­ta­sia 2000, Walt Dis­ney’s nephew redis­cov­ered the mission and 17 sec­onds of orig­i­nal ani­ma­tion. The use of this clip and the orig­i­nal sto­ry­forums, 25 ani­ma­tors introduced the movie to com­ple­tion and pre­miered it at The New York Movie Fes­ti­val in 2003. Des­ti­no would obtain an Oscar nom­i­na­tion for the Perfect Ani­mat­ed Brief Movie, amongst oth­er acco­lades from crit­ics.
